We hit it off so well that we're keeping in touch as friends from now on!

Corsets!

For anyone considering a corset for their boudoir session, I highly

recommend getting one!

(I have a few on hand for boudoir parties, but not in all sizes.)

They are simply AWESOME.

Please note that there are many different styles and types of corsets.

Some are inexpensive and have plastic boning.

These are great for those that don't actually need any

shaping and just want something pretty to show off their figure.

Then there are the steel boned corsets.

You can buy under the bust or over the bust, but either

will do AMAZING things for your shape.

I've had clients literally take 6 inches off their waists just with a corset.

I feel that Miss B's boudoir session fits well with the continued theme of breast cancer awareness. In addition to having her own scare with breast cancer, she's had several women in her family with it. It's a cause that is very close to her heart and she's very involved with breast cancer awareness, from charity events to teaching her Zumba classes in all pink!

Miss B and her husband are very into hockey, which is a new one for me to incorporate into a boudoir session, but I think it turned out pretty darn cute!

You don't need breasts to be sexy! (breast cancer survivor)

Because October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I thought it was only

fitting for this to be my first post of the month.

Remember to do self breast

exams (and mammograms for those 35 and older) on a regular basis!

I had the honor of meeting the amazing Miss S in St. Louis.

This woman radiates beauty and strength and is just awesome to be around.

She's a breast cancer survivor and is only 37 years old

and the mother of 2 small children.

Getting these photos done was a big step for her and

was part of her healing process. I'm so proud of her for doing this, even if we

were both in tears at one point.

I look up to this woman more than words can say.

When I asked Miss S if she had anything she'd like to say to the other

women out there, this is what she said...

"Embrace your body. Let no one or no thing make you

believe you are less of a person, a woman, or a human being.

You are irreplaceable."

When Miss J arrived for her boudoir session (indoors) she immediately asked if we could shoot in the fountain outside. I wasn't sure if she was serious, but she was! I was over the moon excited to do some shots outside of this incredibly sexy woman!

Needless to say, we caused a stir in downtown Portland. One guy even took a photo with his cell phone! It was worth it, though, because the photos turned out great!

Boudoir Images on Canvas

I am now offering gallery wrapped canvases with black edges. Traditional canvases feature images that wrap around the sides, but boudoir images are usually difficult to wrap without losing something important. As an alternative you may now choose to have your gallery wrapped canvas with black edges. You do not lose any of your image in the wrapping process and it looks gorgeous with the black edges. Pricing is the same as regular canvases.

Here are some frequently asked questions pertaining to boudoir photo parties.

Q: How long will my session take?

A: Your actual session will only take 20-30 minutes, but hair and make up can take up to an hour. Add in some socializing, chocolates, and less than perfect schedules and I'd say plan on being at the photo party for up to 3 hours.

Q: Will my session be private?

A: Yes, only the photographer will be in the room with you during your photo session. After your images have been edited, they will be uploaded to an online gallery that is password protected. You decide who you share your photos with. Even those that sign the model release will have say over which images are shared on my blog and in my portfolio. I never share nude images with anyone, other than the clients themselves.

Q: Should I go tanning?

A: NO! Please do not go tanning or have any kind of tan at all, if possible. Natraul skin tones photograph much better in b&w than tanned skin (fake or real). Please avoid tan lines at all costs, as they can not be fully removed in editing.

Q: What should I wear?

A: You may wear as much or as little as you'd like. Some ladies like to be a little more covered, whether it be a pretty robe or even a dress, while others are more comfortable in little to nothing in the way of clothing. Typically things that photograph well, though, are corsets, lace lingerie, and button down shirts over bra & panties. High heels are a great way to make your photos super sexy, but they are not a necessity. You may wear up to 2 different outfits during your photo session. If you would like to pose nude, that counts as an outfit. I usually encourage ladies to choose 2 outfits...one for their partner (sports uniform, work uniform, something related to a hobby, etc.) and then one for themselves (something that makes them feel beautiful and feminine).

Q: What if I have problem areas?

A: First and foremost, try to choose outfits that show of fyour assets, but hide your problem areas. For example, if you do not like your tummy please do not wear bra & panties, as it will show off your stomach. Instead, try a corset or a button down shirt over your lingerie.

Q: What is included with my boudoir photo package?

A: You will receive hair & make up styling, champagne or mimosas, chocolates, a full b&w photo session, a private online gallery and a custom photo product (ask for details, as the featured photo product may change from party to party). You will also receive collection pricing on additional orders with no order minimum.

Q: What id I don't want to use the hair and make up stylist?

A: You do not have to take advantage of the hair & make up styling services, but your session fee will remain the same, as the hair & make up stylist s paid a daily rate, regardless of how many clients she services.

Q: How long will it take to receive my proofs and order?

A: It will take about 4 weeks to get your proofs ready and online for you to view. You will then have a week to place your order for specialty products and additional orders. Once the orders are placed it will take 3-4 weeks to receive your order, depending on what you order (some products take longer than others) and where you live (shipping is an additional charge).

Q: May I bring a friend with me?

A: No, you may not bring a friend with you unless they are also participating in the boudoir photo party. We just do not have room in the hotel suites for extra guests. If your party is being held elsewhere (like a house) arrangements can sometimes be made so that you may have a friend accompany you, but this must be arranged prior to the party.

Q: What if I have to cancel?

A: Because of the costs involved with putting on a private boudoir party, no refunds will be given, even in the event of an emergency or illness. Half of your payment is non-refundable and non-transferable, while the other half is transferable towards another photo session (does not have to be a boudoir session).

Q: What if I don't like my photos?

A: I encourage all potential clients to make themselves very familiar with my work so that they know what to expect. I will not offer refunds or re-shoots from boudoir sessions for any reason.

Q: can I order photos, in addition to what comes with my session?

A: Absolutely! Because there are multiple orders being placed at the same time I am able to waive the minimum order as long as you place your order by the deadline. You will also receive collection pricing if you place your order by the deadline. Orders placed after the deadline, however, will have to meet the current order minimum.

Q: What if I have a friend who wants to join at the last minute?

A: Generally the boudoir photo parties are booked solid long before we host the party, but it does not hurt to ask. Sometimes I have room for an additional client due to a cancellation. So, please do not be afraid to ask!

Q: What if I want to have my boudoir photos taken, but I am not able to attend one of your scheduled boudoir photo parties?

A: If you are unable to attend a scheduled boudoir photo party, you can always book a private party with a few of your closest friends! I also do private boudoir photo shoots in clients' homes. Just contact me for more information and pricing.

I just got home from an amazing weekend of boudoir photography!

It will take me a while to get through all of the photos, but I thought I would share this one from Saturday morning. I had to get up early at the hotel to set up for the boudoir sessions. I am NOT a morning person, but getting up for boudoir was easy! Between the gorgeous women, the fun times, and this amazing sunrise, it was well worth getting up early!

I always love capturing the little details when I can.

During a wedding it might be the icing on the cake or the beading on a dress.

With a newborn it may be their fuzzy ears or peeling toes.

With couples it's that little moment in between the shots.

Boudoir, though, has its own special kind of details.

This session, with Miss Anonymous, was no exception.

I love the simplicity of her curves and the details of the lace in this shot.

In this shot, it's all about the shape of her legs as she puts her stockings on.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love shoes!

This is one of my favorite shots from her session. I love the detail of the lace, but I also love the reflection on the window from her shirt.

I usually tell boudoir clients that bustiers and corsets photograph the best, but sometimes just a simple bra and panty set is all you need. I love the detail on lace and if you're comfortable in this type of lingerie, I say go for it!

I think this is my favorite boudoir image to date. I love the lighting and the mood.

The best way to, in my opinion, to have a boudoir session is with a boudoir photo party!

A few times a year I will have designated dates for boudoir parties. You may come alone, with a friend, or with a whole group of friends! I'm always available for private boudoir parties (meaning just you and your friends) too, as long as you meet the minimum number of participants. The best location for a boudoir party is in a hotel suite, like this one!

Here is a shot of the private bedroom, which I took the night before a boudoir party (the lighting is much brighter during the day, of course).

Here is a shot of the sitting area with the private bedroom in the background.

Boudoir parties include champagne, chocolates, hair & make up stylist, and a full photos session. Private boudoir sessions can be held in your own home, but the lighting conditions have to be suitable, and most homes do not have enough natural light for a boudoir session.
