Portland Boudoir Photographer | a little bit moody

I'm talking about the lighting, of course!
I love the combination of lighting, lace, ruffles, bows, stockings, and just smoking hotness in these shots. Don't be afraid to mix textures. I know that all of those things, together, sounds like a lot, but as you can see, they look great!

There are about two hours a day where the sun comes beaming into the west facing
windows of my studio. I've always heard that you want north facing windows in a studio.
I imagine this is the reason, but I absolutely LOVE this light. It's moody and
dramatic, plus I'm still able to shoot in other areas of the studio
during that time, where the light isn't harsh like this.

If you are interested in getting shots like this for your session, please let me know when you book so that we can schedule it for the appropriate time. If you're more interested in the "not-so-moody" look, that's okay too! Just tell me when you book your session. The great thing about my studio is that it is surprisingly versatile. I can do light and airy, dark and moody, and everything in between.

I'm also happy to give wardrobe advice and recommendations. Maybe you have some
problem areas you're concerned about? I can help you with that! Maybe you have
something you'd like to show off? I can help with that too. Perhaps you don't
want the pinup or "girly" look and need suggestions. Or maybe you're just at a total loss
as to what to wear, which I can also help with!

Salem Boudoir Studio | Tattoos + Lace + Corset + Spunk

I'm so excited to share this beautiful session with you!

Monica is pretty much a dream client. She has a really fun and sassy attitude, she has some awesome ink (done by Oregon Tattoo, which is 2 doors down from my studio, by the way), and she booked her boudoir session for herself
Yep, single, independent, and knows how to appreciate herself.

I love this angle. It's sexy, but without being revealing. Stockings are just plain sexy, whether you're putting them on, taking them off, or hiding them under a dress.

This was actually an outtake, but I loved it so much that I put it in her gallery. Her best friend (who has also been a client and accompanied her to this session) said this is a very typical expression from her, so  that made the shot even better. Please note: bringing your best friend may result in a LOT of laughter between the two of you and your photographer. Just be prepared.

Hello, beautiful curves and ink!

This is one of the corsets I keep at my studio, which happened to fit Monica perfectly!
I have a few corsets on hand, if you're interested in wearing one for your session.
They're all steel boned, which means they won't buckle or bend like plastic boning will, and they give you an amazing waist line!

As luck would have it, there are two days left to book your half price boudoir session. For $350, you get a full session in my studio, the images on disc, and a 4x6 print of each photo. So, if you've been considering booking, now is the time!
Offer expires July 31, 2014.

Salem Boudoir Photographer | sneak peek from cemetery shoot

My friend and fellow photographer, Nicole (of Ordinary Days Photography), once described my work as "fabulously weird." Some might find that a little offensive or strange, but it was one of the biggest compliments I've ever received, regarding my work. Seriously.

Anyway, I seriously squealed with joy when I was contacted to do this fabulously weird photo shoot for this awesome woman. More to come, of course, as this is just a sneak peek.

If you're interested in doing a photo shoot or boudoir session that is a little (or a lot) outside the box, I'd love to hear from you! You can email me at kel@kelwardphotography.com or call/text me at (503)939-6781. I'm totally open to all things weird, strange, bizarre, or just plain out there. Of course, if you're wanting to book a more traditional boudoir session, I'm more than happy to do that too! Please feel free to browse my website (www.kelwardphotography.com) and my blog for inspiration.

Salem Boudoir Studio | cardigans are sexy

When guiding my clients through the "what to wear" process, I tell them that the most important thing is to choose something in which they feel good. So, with that said, this gorgeous bride-to-be instantly thought of her extensive collection of cardigans. As a cardigan lover myself, I can totally relate and love that she brought along a few of her favorites for her session. Paired with a beautifully detailed bra and panty set, it was just perfection. Soft and cuddly, but also sexy as all get out.

Suffice it to say, the album that she ordered made a wonderful gift for her new husband. I love doing boudoir sessions for soon-to-be brides. Yes, it results in a great gift for their new spouse, but it also tends to give brides both a break in the hectic planning and a little boost in self-confidence right before the big day. Anyone who keeps tabs on me or my work knows that I do this for the empowerment and self-confidence it gives my clients.

These shots were taken with the lace curtains in my studio. I've been having a lot
of fun with them lately. If you see something in my blog posts or on my
website that catches your eye, make sure to mention it to me when booking your session.
Most of the time, I'm able to recreate images I've taken in the past. These shots, through
the curtain, would make great artistic pieces for the the walls in a home.

If you are interested in booking a boudoir session with me, please email me at kel@kelwardphotography.com or call/text me at (503)939-6781. If you're in need of some inspiration, please feel free to browse through my boudoir blog or my website (www.kelwardphotography.com).  I am based in Salem, Oregon and am absolutely available for travel. Even outside of Oregon. So, if you and a group of friends are interested in a boudoir party where you live, don't hesitate to contact me!

Salem Boudoir Studio | contest winner!

As you may or may not know, I held a boudoir giveaway to celebrate my new studio in downtown Salem, Oregon. I had a lot of entries. A lot of GOOD entries. Some were moving. Some were funny. Most were awesome. So, it was very difficult for me to decide. I didn't have anyone submit photos, just an explanation of why they'd like to win. I chose Salena as the winner. Salena, like most, has had a long hard road. She recently lost 120 pounds! These two sentences, though, were what won me over…

"Now here I am remembering that the only person I need to love more than my kids is myself. This boudoir session would be a celebration of life, love, and how utterly fabulous I am!"

I've said it before, and I'll say it again… I do not do boudoir to please men. I do boudoir to empower women. Salena is the essence of why I do boudoir sessions for women. She came in with her fabulous self and totally ROCKED her session! We had a lot of laughs and it felt like I had known her for years.

And yes, she bared it all! I would say about half of my boudoir clients end up
posing for some tasteful nudes during their session. I just don't normally share
those images, per their request.
